Hello CF fighters and families! We are reaching out to alert you to potential changes which could impact our CF fighters who utilize Medicaid insurance programs, including CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program), and managed Medicaid. Lawmakers in Washington are considering a new Congressional budget which, if passed, could result in reductions in Medicaid coverage across the country. These proposed cuts would result in reduction in medical care coverage for many of our CF fighters. Medicaid allows many of our patients to access imperative treatments, such as highly effective gene modulators, transportation services, nursing care, clinic visits, airway clearance devices and so much more. Many patients would experience serious health problems without access to these vital medications and treatments. While the potential of loss of coverage for our most vulnerable patients is alarming, we know our community is CF-strong. We can come together to show our lawmakers the dangers of these proposed cuts.
There are a number of ways we can support our CF patients utilizing Medicaid. The best way is to SPEAK OUT! Contact your senators and representatives. It is the job of these offices to listen to their constituents, and the more voices they hear (or read!) raising the same issue, the greater the impact on the lawmaker.
If you or your child utilize Medicaid and/or CHIP, you can also share your story directly with the CF Foundation! The Foundation is compiling personal stories of families who depend on Meidcaid for their CF treatments and services. Your voice deserves to be heard in Washington. If you are interested in sharing how Medicaid has helped you or your loved ones, access vital medical treatment, take a moment to share your story using the link below:
We know that when our CF community comes together, there is tremendous power in our voices. We can speak out against this budget. We can come together for our CF fighters! We can make change!
